Zachary's Lucky Day

We took Zachary to the Georgia game on Saturday. We had planned to take Liam too, but with the heat as bad as it was, we decided to leave him at home. The 3:30 kickoff actually seemed to work better for Zachary than the 12:30 & 1:00 kickoffs. He napped for about an hour on the way to Athens, which he doesn’t do for those early kickoffs (which always makes for a CRABBY Zachary after the game). He made it through 3 quarters, which is a record for him. We probably could have made it longer, but we needed to get back home so my mom could get home before it got too late. As it turns out, we left at a good time, because even leaving when we did, Zachary got in bed an hour late. We were proud of him though for making it as long as he did. The whole way home he kept saying, “It’s my lucky day, right?” He got lots of treats on Saturday that he doesn’t normally get – fast food for lunch & dinner, juice with dinner, dippin dots at the game…so I guess that translated to him as being his lucky day. But boy did we pay for it yesterday. Despite going to bed an hour later than normal, he still woke up when he normally would on a Sunday morning (coupled with the fact that he only napped for 1 hour on Saturday instead of at least 2 like he normally would). Yesterday was filled with meltdown after meltdown – so many meltdowns, in fact, that I lost count of how many he had. It was just one of those days…

Liam has been doing this thing lately where if you & he are both sitting on the floor facing each other, he will grab your hands, and stand up. Last night he pulled himself up on a toy. We were so excited. You can tell that he really wants to do something different, but it’s looking more like he’s going to be one of those kids that doesn’t crawl. Every time he flops himself down on his tummy, he looks and sounds absolutely miserable until he flips himself onto his back. Then he’s happy again. But he always seems so pleased with himself when he is standing up, so maybe he will be an early walker. He’s going to have to be if he wants to keep up with Zachary!

Back to the Georgia game…we were up on the bridge by the stadium just before the game. We were on our way inside the stadium, when we passed a little FSN setup doing the Dawg Days pre-game show that they did on Saturday. We saw the camera, and the host guy, so Josh grabbed Zachary, and they went & stood behind the host. Once the show went to a break, we continued into the stadium. I called my mom to see if she had the show on, and as soon as she picked up the phone, she said, “I just saw Zachary on TV!!!” So the video below is my attempt at showing everyone Zachary’s big break into television! We had TiVo'ed the show, and the only thing I could think of was to record the TV with my camera, so here goes. In the video, you will see the host, and then just behind his head you will see a kid get hoisted up on top of someone’s shoulders. The kid is Zachary, and the shoulders belong to Josh. Zachary has on a red “G” hat and UGA jersey, and you’ll see him kind of hovering around the host’s head. Also in the video you will see a silhouette near his head – that’s Josh’s finger pointing at Zachary on the TV in case you miss him. Maybe our son will be famous one day!

Zachary's big break - what a great day he had! Sorry you had to pay for it yesterday. I was wondering if you were going to take Liam - it seemed like it was going to be so hot.

very nice! Glad he got his break so early...some of us had to wait until college to be on TV at a game!

Too cute!

It's as if the sportscaster was wearing a tiny little hat.
