Welcome to the Muckdogs!

Zachary's summer baseball league started today.  We signed him up because, well, he wanted to do it, but also, it's only for 2 hours on Sundays for 6 weeks or so - not a huge commitment.  We finally heard from his coach earlier this week & found out that he's on the Muckdogs team.  In the spring, Wills Park uses major league teams as the team names, but in this summer league they apparently go with minor league team names.  I learned from Wikipedia that the Muckdogs are in Batavia, NY, and are affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals.  There's only one boy on his team who was on his team in the spring (who also happens to be our next-door neighbor).  The summer league is set up a bit differently from the spring.  In the spring, practices & games were separate, and on practice days, only one team practiced on each field at a time.  During this summer league there are only 4 teams, but all 4 teams practiced together for an hour, before pairing up for a game for the second hour.  Today Zachary's team played the Lookouts (which is also the team his friends Peyton & Davey are on).  It's going to be a hot, but fun, next several weeks!
