We had a great 4th of July. It was a nice way to cap off what had been a fantastic week at the beach - nice to come home & still have 2 more days before returning to the real world.
We headed to the pool in the morning & stayed for about an hour & a half. After lunch, we put Liam down for a nap. I don't think anyone was actually expecting him to take one (he hasn't really taken a nap in weeks, other than his daily 5pm crash at the beach), but somehow he fell asleep. So we had some nice quiet time in the afternoon while Liam slept. This is especially miraculous considering that he slept until about 8:15 that moning too (his normal weekend awake time is somewhere no later than 7:00). Around 5:30 we packed up the car & headed to Wills Park for the city of Alpharetta's fireworks. It was a bit disappointing to discover that there was a light mist coming down, but we headed on out anyway figuring it would pass. We stayed pretty close to the car (just in case the weather turned), and kicked a ball around, and then ate our picnic dinner. Around 8:00 it started raining harder, so we put everything back in the car & began entertaining ourselves. After about 45 minutes of this, we were about to give up. The rain had been pretty steady since it started, and we didn't think there'd be any way they could shoot fireworks off in that. As we started to buckle seatbelts in preparation for leaving, we heard something on the back of the car - they had started the fireworks! So we quickly all went to the back of the car & watched from inside with the back door open. The boys were so excited! It was about to be pretty disappointing to have no fireworks, but the City of Alpharetta did not let us down.
Because of the weather I didn't get any pictures with my camera, but I did get a couple with my phone. Unfortunately, Liam was not feeling especially cooperative that day, so this was the best I could get.
