The Best of Entertainment

On our last trip to WDW we really didn’t see many shows or parades. In fact, if we knew a parade was coming, we’d run for the rides because we figured everyone would be lined up on the street for the parade. We didn’t even get to see fireworks, because they had Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party going on just about every night we were there, and so they didn’t do fireworks until midnight. That’s late, even for me – let alone the kids. So we were super excited this time that there were no special events going on, and the fireworks took place at 8:00 every night.

On Monday we hung around MK long enough to see the SpectroMagic light parade down Main Street. It was really cool (although the song that is played throughout the duration of the parade is STILL in my head, over a week later!) The only drawback was it was slightly drizzly. We hung around for the fireworks afterwards, but it was definitely sprinkling by that point, and the fireworks kind of got lost in the clouds. Bummer.

On Tuesday, while we were at the Hollywood Studios, we sat through the Playhouse Disney show. Liam LOVED it! He was up dancing at all the tunes – it was so cute! I gotta say though – the lady who sort of “hosts” that show has got a whole lot of perky going on. I’d like some of what she’s drinking, please! We also watched the Muppet 3D show, which was quite funny.

The next day we went back to DHS, and watched the Lights Camera Action Stunt show – it’s all about how they would film a car chase sequence in an action movie. Pretty neat stuff. Then we stuck around long enough for the Block Party Bash with all of the Pixar characters.

We headed back to Epcot that evening for a few hours, and then my mom generously took the boys back to the hotel, and Josh & I had a date night. We walked around the World Showcase area a little more, and then found a spot to watch Illuminations on the lake. It was really neat. I know the boys would have liked it, but with it starting at 9:00 (and us having been on the go since 9:00am, we knew they would never make it).

The next day we were back at MK in the afternoon when Move It Shake It Celebrate It block party came rolling through. We stopped to watch that, and it was also a lot of fun. Since that was one of our 2 nice days, we stuck around to see SpectroMagic again – not in the rain. Then since we were already there, we stayed for the fireworks again. I must say, they are quite spectacular, when it is not raining.
