Busy Busy Busy

We had a BUSY weekend (I know it’s Tuesday – past time to be talking about the weekend, but, just bear with me). We took Zachary to karate Saturday morning, where he FINALLY got his invitation into the Black Belt Course. Yay! It apparently only took a month – the certificate is dated May 15. So we went ahead & signed him up and got his new red uniform (along with 6 new patches to sew on – fun for me, because they each take me like 45 minutes to sew on!).

After karate, we headed to Chastain Park to meet all the girls & their families for a picnic/playdate. We’ve had the picnic idea forever, but it took us until mid-June to find a day we were all free. Unfortunately, the weather decided to be hot as blazes that day, and we all fried on the playground. But we had a fun time, and hopefully we can do more picnics (once the weather cools off!)

Starting in back left: McLean (Kimberly), Zachary (me), Sophie (Merri) holding Alden (Natalie); Middle row: Liam (me); Front row left: Luke (Merri), Case (Natalie), Owen (Amanda), Evan (Amanda)

Vroom vrooooom!

Liam & Luke riding the little trolley thing

Luke, Liam, Zachary, & Case all had on the same shirt!! (Alden did too, but he was content snuggling with his mommy in his baby bjorn, and so he didn't make the picture)

One more...trying to get a picture of 4 boys together is not easy. As you can tell from the previous picture, Luke wanted no part of it. So we tried with the remaining 3 boys. This was the best we could get.

After the picnic, both boys fell fast asleep in the car. Liam continued his nap once we got home, Zachary did not. After Liam woke up from his nap, we got back into the car to head over to see some other friends at their house & have dinner. They have a daughter Liam’s age, and a 5-month-old daughter. Let me just tell you it was CRAZY! But, crazy in a totally fun way. Jeana & I even escaped to Kroger for about 10 minutes to get some lettuce for the salad. Can you ever imagine a scenario where going to Kroger would be an escape?? We had a blast though, and we all decided that we definitely need to do it more often.

On Sunday we went to church and then to swimming lessons. Both boys did AMAZING in their lessons. In fact, the swimming teacher told us that Liam is ready to move up to the next class level – one where parents are NOT in the pool with the kids! I called to see what time that class is, and unfortunately it’s at the same time as church, so at least for now, we probably won’t be able to move him. But Zachary is also getting close to being ready to move up – we just need to work with him on a couple of things to get him there. That afternoon/evening we had a nice Father’s Day dinner at our house. This was followed up by a nice anniversary dinner at Maggiano’s yesterday – 7 years! Hard to believe…

Finally, it looks like some changes are definitely coming to the Cahill family (no, no more babies at this time, so don’t even go there). Hopefully I’ll be able to post about it later in the week - I don't want to give all the details until then (just in case something falls through).

In the meantime, I leave you with a couple of funny conversations that have taken place over the last couple of days…

Liam: That’s Connor’s grandma!
Zachary: No, that’s Connor’s mom!
Me: Well which is it – Connor’s mom or grandma?
Zachary: It must be Connor’s mom, because she’s not an old lady, and grandmas are old ladies.

#####
Me: (upon picking Zachary up from his Sunday School class at church on Sunday) So, were you nice today?
Zachary: I’m always nice at church…but, I’m not always nice at school…? (kind of putting his hands up by his side and shrugging his shoulders)
Me: Well, how about this – what if you try being nice at church AND at school?
Zachary: (thinking…) Yeah…I could probably do that

You have been busy! Super cute shirts. Where did you find them? What's the big news? Do you want guessing?
