At Least He Tried...

***WARNING: This post's topic relates to the potty - stop here if you're not into that kind of stuff!***

While Liam was napping and Zachary was in his room for "quiet time" (we've pretty much given up on forcing him to nap), I ran out to Kroger to get groceries for next week. Josh was outside mowing the grass. It took me a little bit longer in Kroger because they are in the final phases of a massive store renovation, and so nothing is in the same place it used to be. When I got home, Josh met me in the garage to help me bring the bags in. We walked in the house & were greeted by Zachary (who was supposed to be in his room for quiet time...). Zachary had no pants on. Or underwear. Here's how it went from there.

Josh: Uh, hey Zachary...what are you doing down here? And where are your pants?
Zachary: Well I had to go poopy, so I came downstairs.
Josh: How long have you been down here?
Me: And where are your pants??
Zachary: I had to come down to go poopy, and some poop got on the floor.
Me: Uhhhh...what???
Josh: What do you mean poop got on the floor??
Zachary: Come look!

He then leads us to the bathroom and opens the door - we peek in, and don't actually see any poop on the floor, but what we do see is a toilet full of poop and about half a roll of toilet paper.

Me: What in the world did you do?
Zachary: I had to wipe my hiney...
Me: OK, but you don't need that much toilet paper - we're not going to be able to flush the potty with that much toilet paper in it. [thank goodness he had not tried flushing it himself...]

At this point, Josh is standing there scratching his head trying to figure out just how in the world we are going to get all that toilet paper out of the toilet without making a huge mess. Then this happened...

Zachary: There's poop on my foot too. Oh! And there's poop on the couch too!

Oh geez...that is NOT good. This is when we lectured Zachary about not sitting on the furniture when you have no pants on. And also about how if you need extra toilet paper, you have to flush before putting more paper in the potty. It reminded me of that scene from Daddy Daycare, where the little boy takes Eddie Murphy into the bathroom. You never see exactly what happened, but the kids says, "I missed..." As crazy as it sounds, I think Josh was a little bit proud of Zachary for at least trying to do it by himself.

We did a fun activity this morning (before PoopFest '09 took place). There is a park in Roswell called Riverside Park. We have actually never been to this park before today, but I definitely want to go back & explore it some more. The reason we went today is because about a month ago they opened up a Sprayground there. It's basically a little splash park thing, with holes in the ground that spray water up in different patterns (like the ones at Centennial Park), and they have a couple of tall things that spray water down. We had heard about it from some neighbors, so we decided to check it out. We met some friends there - Zachary's buddy Cameron, and another little boy who lives down the street who is in the class just behind Zachary & Cameron at school. The big boys loved it, and Cameron's little sister (who is in Liam's class) also enjoyed herself. But Liam really wanted no part of it. I'm thinking that Zachary will be more "Surf", while Liam will be more "Turf". I'd love to go back. It was something fun & different - but most of all, it was free.

Tonight we are off to dinner at Maggiano's. People, if you like pasta, get yourselves on over there. They are running a deal there now (supposedly through September, but we will verify tonight), where for $12.95 you get a pasta entree to eat in the restaurant (which, by the way, is enough for at least 2 meals), AND another pasta entree that they wrap up in a to-go box (that one is also enough for at least 2 meals). So you basically get 4 meals of pasta for $12.95. Best. Deal. Ever.
