Tom the Turkey

Zachary came home with a cute weekend homework assignment yesterday.  Meet Tom the Turkey:

Being that Tom is a turkey, he's a bit nervous about Thanksgiving coming up.  He knows people like to eat turkey for Thanksgiving, but he doesn't want to be eaten.  So the kids were each asked to make a costume for Tom so that nobody will know he is a turkey.  Zachary decided that his turkey should be dressed up as Yoda (the instructions said it was a family project, so we did help him draw the outline of the Yoda head & robe, but Zachary did all of the coloring & cutting...AND, he drew the light saber all by himself - no help from either of us on that).

And then as one last touch, we decided that Tom needed to have a few feathers peeking out from behind his costume, you know, just as a reminder that he is, after all, still a turkey.

I can't wait to go visit his class next week for their Thanksgiving feast & see all the different costumes the kids made for Tom!

Too cute! Very creative! We do that in my room too. It's always fun to see all of the neat ideas.
