Good Times with Good Friends

I'm almost a week late with this, but this past Saturday we headed over to some friends' house in the late afternoon for a cookout/playdate.  The party was at the home of our friends, the Hansfords.  Their son William is in Zachary's class, and they went to preschool together before that (they also have John, who is a year older than Zachary & William).  Also at the party were our friends the Haucks (who have Zachary's friend Cameron & Liam's friennd Addison), and the Walls (who have Zachary's friend Peyton).  The 4 boys have known each other since they were about 2 (and Zachary & Cameron have known each other since they were babies).  We had all been wanting to get together for a while now.  The boys do see each other at school, but since they are spread among 3 different classes, they don't always get to see each other every day.  There were a total of 7 kids there (counting the siblings), and they had a BLAST!  They pretty much ran all over the Hansford's yard - we hardly saw those kids all night (which is why, despite having my camera there, I have NO pictures from the night).  They cooked some hamburgers & hot dogs & we just had a nice dinner, with good conversation.  We had such a good time, in fact, that all of a sudden we realized it was 10pm!  The boys are typically in bed by 8:00, or 8:30 at the latest on weekends.  We couldn't believe how well they had hung in there.  The Hansfords live no more than 5 minutes from us, and Zachary was asleep in the car before we got home.  Hopefully we can all do it again, because it was a lot of fun, for both the kids and the adults.

And on a separate topic...tomorrow is Zachary's last day of kindergarten.  It feels like I was JUST posting about his FIRST day of kindergarten - how can he already be done??  He had a GREAT year - he was SO lucky with the teacher he got, and the class he got, and we are lucky to live in such an amazing school district.  We are excited about what the summer holds, since it is our first summer away from the daycare environment.  But I'm also excited to see what first grade will bring for our little man!
