Trucks, Baseball, Pizza, and Stitches

Over the past week, Zachary had 3 baseball games.  The last game of the season was Saturday.  But before that, I took Zachary to the Alpharetta Touch-a-Truck (we had planned for all of us to go, but Liam was being stubborn about putting his clothes away, so Josh stayed home with him).  Zachary enjoyed trying out all the different trucks & vehicles they had there.

After Touch-a-Truck, we headed back to Wills Park for Zachary's last baseball game.  They had a great time, and as much time as it took us during our week the last 2 months, it was kind of sad that it was over.  I know Zachary enjoyed playing ball and hanging out with his teammates.  I know Josh enjoyed helping to coach the team (mostly at first base).  I enjoyed talking to the other moms.  And Liam enjoyed hanging out with his friend Kiran from his class (her brother was on Zachary's team).

After the game was over, we headed to Ray's Pizza in Alpharetta for the end-of-season party.  The boys had pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream cake, and Coach Chris handed out the trophies.  They had such a fun time at the party!

We came home after the pizza party - the boys were tired, Liam especially.  He had not had a nap, because he had wanted to go to the baseball party.  The first order of business upon arriving home was to get him in bed for a nap.  Only, he decided to plow head first into the bottom corner of the back door of my car instad, resulting in a small gash on the side of his forehead.  Sigh...It was definitely smaller than the one Zachary had last year (the one that resulted in him getting 4 staples in his head), but it looked deep enough that we decided to go get it checked out.  So we headed off to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta urgent care facility.  I have to say - if you're going to go there, an injury is the way to go.  In our 2 experiences there with injuries (both head injuries, oddly enough), we have gotten in & out pretty quickly.  Luckily for Liam the gash was not that big, and even luckier was that he got the one doctor there who apparently refuses to use staples.  So two stitches it was.  He was SUCH a trooper - the only time he really cried was when the nurse was taking the band-aid off his head because it was stuck to his hair (they had put some numbing ointment on it, and used a band-aid to keep it in place).  He didn't flinch or fuss at all during the actual stitches.  In fact, he was answering questions and carrying on a conversation during the whole process.  And they were nice enough to use dissolvable stitches, so we don't even have to go back to get them out.  Since he was so brave, we took him to Build-a-Bear afterwards to get him a prize (we did that for Zachary after his head staples too).  It was a LONG day, but we all slept VERY well that night.
