Boosterthon

Every year, Zachary's school does a Boosterthon fun-run.  The kids get pledges for each lap (maximum of 35 laps), and then every day in the week leading up to the Boosterthon, the Boosterthon guys come to the school to hand out prizes to kids who have reached the different prize thresholds.  By the way, the Boosterthon guys are aways hopped up on a triple shot of espresso.  I like the fundraising for the school - they raise a lot of money through this fundraiser, and they use the money primarily for technology for the classrooms.  What I don't like is Zachary begging for more pledges so he can get more prizes.  I can't tell you how many times he asked us for a pledge, AFTER we had already pledged, only to tell us that we can pledge more than once.  Next year is going to be super fun when there's 2 of them competing for the same pool of cash from us & grandparents...

Anyway, the run was supposed to take place this past Thursday, but they decided on Wednesday to go ahead & push it back to Friday due to the threat of rain on Thursday morning.  Friday rolled around & Zachary was very excited about the Boosterthon!  They had 2nd grade scheduled to run first (along with 3rd grade) bright & early at 7:50am!

The Boosterthon theme ths year was Highway USA, so each class was assigned a state.  They were supposed to decorate their classroom door with things representing the state, and then they were also supposed to come up with a team name (that didn't necessarily have to have anything to do with the state they were assigned).  Zachary's class was assigned Rhode Island.  Seriously.  So they came up with the team name "Super Epic Rhode Runners" - pretty clever, huh!

The laps are pretty small, so they run around, and then wait in line to get their shirt marked.  Every so often, they do a theme lap, like skip, walk, or find a buddy.  This was the buddy lap.

Zachary was so excited when he finished.  He completed his 35 laps with about 10-15 minutes left in the run.  Once they hit 35, they can keep running/walking.  For some reason the teachers continued to mark his shirt all the way up to 46 laps, even though those of us who pledged are only on the hook for 35 laps.

And this is their principal - he's HUGE!  Well, he's tall, for sure.  He played football in college, so he's a big dude.  It's hysterical to see him running around with all these little kids.

And here's the happy class after the run!
