Yesterday was the Crabapple Antique & Arts Festival. We've never been able to go before (probably because of home Georgia games), but we were able to go this year since the game was away. Well, all of us but Josh were able to go (he actually went to the game). But my mom came over & went with us. Despite the fact that the 2nd word in the name of the event is "antique", I thought it would be less antique-y, and more arts-y. So it was a little disappointing, because we are just not antique people. But the weather was beautiful in the morning when we went, so it was just nice to be outside. Plus, we got to get a close-up look at Zachary's class literary pumpkin. Each class at his school made a literary pumpkin, and they were displayed all around the Crabapple area. The pumpkins were judged (not sure who judged them), and Zachary's class won first place out of the whole school! He was so excited that they won. The win was a little less exciting once I found out that the class really didn't help with it at all - a group of about 3 moms apparently pretty much did the whole thing. So we have some really creative moms in the class, but they were still excited nonetheless. Here is Zachary with his pumpkin (which was very prominently displayed on the main street corner near the festival!)
Really about the only other good thing about the festival was that King of Pops was there. This is a big deal, mainly because food trucks NEVER come up this way. I think the local governments up here have just made it really difficult for them to do business in this area, so we always have to go to the ends of the earth if we want King of Pops or some other food truck fare. Somehow they made it happen yesterday, so we made sure to get a pop before we left.
We really didn't stay long at the festival because there wasn't really much to do if you're not into antiques. So after we left, we went & had lunch at Jason's Deli, and then we went to see Hotel Transylvania. It was cute, but not amazing. It was just nice for Liam to get to partake in weekend fun activities, since he often has to miss out on them because of having too many potty accidents at school. He went 4 days in a row without one Monday-Thursday last week. When I picked him up on Friday, I thought the streak had ended, because he was wearing different clothes. It turns out, he had not had any accidents - he had bumped into another boy on the playground, and wound up with a bloody nose. Because he got blood on his shirt & shorts, they had him change into new clothes. Poor guy. He was fine though - such a trooper!
