September Rewind: UGA Football

It took me until the beginning of this month to upload September pictures, so I never blogged (with photos) about anything we did last month.  Sad.  But now that I'm caught up (for now...), I can finally share!

September brought the start of college football - GO DAWGS!  Georgia's schedule is a bit strange this year, with 4 home games in September, no home games in October, and then 3 more home games in November.  The first game on 9/1 (vs. Buffalo) was early, so we took Zachary & Liam with us.  But it was hot.  Like, really, reallt HOT.  Miserably hot.  I think we made it barely into the 3rd quarter before we had to escape the heat.

After Buffalo, Georgia played Florida Atlantic at home on 9/15.  This was a night game, but since it wasn't a major opponent we rolled the dice & took the boys.  Zachary did great, but Liam screamed pretty much from the time we got to the stadium to the time we left (which was again, around the start of the 3rd quarter).  The cool thing about this game was that Russ officially became Uga IX.

So the next week (9/22), when the Vanderbilt game kicked off late again, we made the wise decision to leave Liam home with my mom and just brought Zachary with us.  He did alright, but I think the back-to-back late games were a little hard on him.  He didn't make it very long.

Thankfully the Tennessee game the following week (9/29) was a nice 3:30 kickoff - late enough that we had plenty of time for a nice little tailgating setup, but not so late that everyone fell asleep.  Well, almost everyone...

He laid under our legs on the blanket we brought and fell asleep.  He slept for most of the 1st quarter & about half of the 2nd.  He slept through some touchdowns & lots of crowd noises, but he woke right up when Josh said "Dippin' Dots".  Yep.  This was our biggest tailgate yet though.  We brought our tent for the first time in a while, and we also brought our little propane grill that we forgot we had.

We are going to enjoy some free time this month with no home games.  But when November rolls around, we'll be ready to get going again.  I used some of my birthday money to get a cornhole set, so that will be a fun addition.  We are just so happy that Zachary & Liam enjoy tailgating and football (Zachary likes the football part more than Liam does...), and that this is something we can enjoy as a family, and hopefully start some new traditions along with it!
