The Greatest Show on Earth

On Sunday, we took Liam to the circus.  Just Liam.  No, it wasn't punishment for Zachary, and no, it wasn't a belated birthday present for Liam.  It’s just that Zachary does not like the circus and would rather stay home and hang out with my mom than go to the circus.  It’s definitely the clowns.  I don’t know if he’s afraid of them or just doesn't find them funny (I don’t find them funny, but I’m not afraid of them).  But he definitely doesn't like clowns to the point that he’d rather skip out on the whole thing than have to deal with clowns.

I love that the circus not only stops at Philips Arena, but it also makes a stop at the Gwinnett Arena too – this means we don’t have to go downtown!  I also love that parking is free at Gwinnett.  It’s the little things…

We had really good seats – we were in the lower level, almost right in the middle, about 10 rows up.  We had gotten there pretty early, so we asked Liam if he wanted to go on the floor for the pre-show deal.  He had no interest, until he saw they had a bouncy house.  Of course they were charging extra for that, but it appeared to be unlimited turns in it, which sort of made it OK.  It was an obstacle course type of thing, and he just kept going right back in as soon as he’d finish.  He would have stayed in there all day if we had let him.

Liam enjoyed himself at the circus.  He loved the animals, and the golden dragon that blew smoke out of his nose.  He also loved the massive bag of cotton candy we let him have!  (it was OK – my mom had bought a Frappuccino for Zachary, so we’ll call it even).

All in all, it was a good day – both boys got to do things they like to do.  Liam had a great time at the circus, and Zachary got to stay home and watch The Avengers (which Liam isn't old enough to watch).  My mom had planned to take him somewhere to jump/bounce, but he’s had the start of a cough, so we thought he’d be better off staying home & not running around too much.  He did get out & rode his scooter for a little bit since it was SO nice outside Sunday (a wonderful break from all the miserable rain we've had lately – the rain that cancelled all but one baseball practice for both boys’ teams).  Zachary's team did finally get to practice yesterday.  It was COLD, but they looked pretty good.  The team was split in two - half hitting & half in the field.  When I got there, Zachary was at 3rd base.  His side was told that once they got 3 outs, they could hit.  Zachary made the first and third outs!  The cold didn't seem to affect him at all.  After we watched him hit, Liam & I came back home so we could try to thaw out.
