We raced back from Augusta on Tuesday to make sure we were back in time for Zachary's baseball game against the Yankees. They had played the Yankees in the first game of the season, and had a great comeback win. I think our kids have been a little rusty since coming back from spring break - they just seem to be having a hard time getting it together.
This time was another tough fight - the Yankees had no intention of just laying down and being run over. The only problem was that their coach seemed to think that he was coaching for a bonus or something. He kept rolling his eyes anytime one of our players made a bad throw. And at one point, he threw the ball to our shortstop, who bobbled the ball and then dropped it. The coach turned to his batter and said, "Hit it there." Yep - 7 year olds! There were several parents sitting right behind home plate, so we had a number of people who heard him say it. And my mom said she saw him mouth a curse word at one point too. I'm glad we're not taking this too seriously.
Anyway, Dodgers were the visitors, and we went into the top of the last inning up by 2 runs, 18-16. They allowed the Yankees to tie it up, but then stuffed them. The game ended in a tie, which normally would be kind of a bummer. But in this case, a tie actually felt pretty good. I just didn't want that jerk of a coach to be able to get a win.
Zachary played a good game - nothing stellar to note, but he played well for his cheering section, which consisted of all 3 grandparents.
